Call for nominations for the WHO World No Tobacco Day 2026 awards

Theme: Unmasking the appeal – countering nicotine and tobacco addiction

16 January 2026
Call for nominations

The deadline for the submission of nominations has been extended to Friday, 13 February 2026, at 17:00 Geneva time / 23:00 Manila time (GMT+8).

The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling for nominations to the World No Tobacco Day awards of individuals or organizations in each of the six WHO Regions for their accomplishments in the area of tobacco control.

Each year on 31 May, World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) unites governments, health organizations, civil society, and youth voices under a shared mission: to end the tobacco epidemic and secure a tobacco- and nicotine-free future for the next generation.

The theme for World No Tobacco Day 2026 is “Unmasking the appeal – countering nicotine and tobacco addiction.” The campaign will expose how the tobacco and nicotine industry continues to reinvent and repackage its products to hook a new generation, particularly children and adolescents, while evading stronger tobacco control measures worldwide.

For further details, please visit the global WNTD 2026 awards website.

How to submit a nomination

The nomination form related to individuals or organizations from the WHO Western Pacific Region can be submitted by email to Ms Xi Yin ([email protected]).

The nomination form for other regions can be submitted by email to the relevant WHO regional office (see regional contact list on the WNTD awards site).
